Week 5

30-11-2009 (Monday, 2aFeira, Maandag)

Today we dropped Efraim with his grandparents and Jander and me took off to Zwolle for some serious Sinterklaas shopping, it was great to be able to actually spend time in the shop looking at things! (Not able to do that with Efraim!) At night we had dinner at my parents place as well!

Hoje deixamos Efraim com os avós e Jander e eu partimos para Zwolle para fazer compras de Sinterklaas, foi muito bom para realmente poder gastar tempo dentro das lojas olhando coisas (Não dá quando vamos com Efraim!) A noite jantamos com meus pais!

Vandaag hebben we Efraim bij zijn opa en oma gedropt, en wij zijn naar Zwolle vertrokken voor de echte sinterklaasinkopen, heerlijk om nu echt even in de winkels rond te kunnen kijken (is lastig met Efraim erbij) ‘s Avonds hebben we bij mijn ouders gegeten!

 

01-12-2009 (Tuesday, 3a Feira, Dinsdag)

Carla invited us to spend an afternoon with her and to go swimming, she lives in a nice place, in the forest. It was the first time for Jander and Efraim in an indoor swimmingpool, and they both enjoyed it!

Carla nos convidou para passar uma tarde com ela e para ir para piscina, ela mora num lugar lindo no meio de um bosque. Foi a primeira vez para Efraim e Jander em uma piscina interna, com agua bem quente, eles gostaram muito!

Carla nodigde ons uit om een middagje naar haar toe te komen en om dan te gaan zwemmen. Ze woont op een mooi plekje in Putten, midden in het bos. Het was de eerste keer voor Jander en Efraim in een subtropisch zwembad en ze vonden het allebei erg leuk!

02-12-2009 (Wednesday, 4aFeira, Woensdag)

There’s a Sinterklaasparty at my parents school - for the (grand)childern of the teachers-, there are games, and Efraim even gets a diploma! Sinterklaas came and gave all the kids (around 24 kids) lots of candy and a present! Efraim did not like the games very much, but when they had to go search for the presents he grabbed the first blond girl he saw by the hand, and quietly the 2 went walking around while all the other kids were running, adorable!!!!!

Tem uma festa de Sinterklaas na escola de meus pais – para os filhos/netos dos professores-, teve jogos, e Efraim até ganha um diploma! Sinterklaas veio e ele deu todas as crianças (uns 24) muitos doces e um presente! Efraim não gostou muito dos jogos, mas quando eles tiveram que procurar pelos presentes, ele agarrou a mão da primeira loira que ele viu e calmamente os dois caminharam no meio de todas as crianças correndo, tão fofo!!!!!!!

Er was een Sinterklaasfeets op de school van mijn ouders – voor de (klein)kindere van het personeel, er waren spelltjes en Efraim kreeg zelfs een pietendiploma! Sinterklaas kwam langs e gaf al de kinderen (24) veel snoep en een cadeautje! Efraim vond de spelletjes niet zo leuk, maar toen ze op jacht moesten naar de cadeautjes, pakte hij de hand van het eerste mooie blonde meisje dat hij zag en met z’n 2tjes liepen ze rustig tussen de rondrennende kinderen door, errug schattig!!!!!!

Right after we went to our friends Gert en Jennifer for dinner, and than me and Jennifer left the boys and kids (note: kids were asleep and boys watching football), and we went to a very nice place for tea, than a drink with a snack and wonderful conversation!

Logo depois fomos jantar na casa de nosso amigos Gert & Jennifer, depois eu e Jennifer deixamos os meninos e crianças (bem, as crianças estavam dormindo e os meninos assistindo futebol) e eu e ela fomos para um lugar legal para tomar um chá um drinque e um lanche com uma boa conversa!

Gelijk daarna gingen we door naar onze vrienden Gert en Jannifer om daar te eten, daarna lieten Jennifer en ik de jongens en de kids achter (let op, de kids sliepen en de jongens keken voetbal), en we gingen naar een gezellig restaurantje om wat te drinken, natuurlijk met bitterballen (speciaal voor ons!) en een goed gesprek erbij!

03-12-2009 (Thursday, 5a Feira, Donderdag)

 

We spend a quiet day at home, it gets dark at around 5 pm, time to put the candles on!

Passamos um dia tranquilo em casa, escurece cedo, as 5 da tarde, hora de acender as velas!

We hebben een rustig dagje thuis, het wordt vroeg donker, doe de kaarsen maar aan!

04-12-2009 (Friday, 6aFeira, vrijdag)

It’s time to wrap the presents for the sinterklaasparty tomorrow, I finish the painting I made for the daughters of my cousins, they turned out pretty well!

Está na hora de embrulhar os presentes para a festa de sinterklaas amanhã, eu termino os quadros que fiz para as filhas de minhas primas, ficou bem legal!

Tijd om de  kadootjes in te pakken voor het sinterklaasfeest morgen, ik leg nog een laatste hand aan de schilderijtjes voor de dochtertjes van mijn nichtjes, ze zijn erg leuk geworden, al zeg ik het zelf! 

At night we have chinese food at my parents house to celebrate my parents sold their house!

A noite comemos comida chinesa com meus pais para celebrar que eles venderam a casa deles!

Om te vieren dat mijn ouders hun huis hebben verkocht eten we daar lekker chinees!

05-12-2009 (Saturday, Sábado, Zaterdag)

Today’s the big day! The whole family is together! Efraim plays with the daughter of my cousin, Tessa, who is about his age. Efraim gets overly exited with every present (even is it isn’t his), he shouts and jumps up and down, it’s fun to see, especially my grandparents are enjoying this time with all their children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren together!

Hoje é o grande dia! A família toda está reunida! Efraim brinca com a filha de minha prima, Tessa, que é mais ou menos da mesma idade. Efraim fica super-empolgada com cada presentes (mesmo se não é dele) e ele pula e grita de alegria, é muito legal para ver, principalmente meus avós estão curtindo este tempo com todos os filhos, netos e bisnetos reunidos!

Vandaag is de grote dag! De hele familie bij elkaar! Efraim speelt met de dochter van mijn nichtje, Tessa, die ongeveer net zo oud is als hem. Efraim is echt over-enthousiast bij elk cadeautje (zelf als die niet voor hem is) e hij juicht en hij springt op en neer, erg mooi om te zien en het werkt aanstekelijk! Vooral mijn  opa en oma genieten ervan dat hun kinderen, kleinkinderen en achterkleinkinderen zo bij elkaar zijn!

 06-12-2009 (Sunday, Domingo, Zondag)

Jander goes to church alone, I stay at home with Efraim, as it got too late yesterday, time to get all the presents together! Before Efraim wakes up I already put half of it away as he got sooooo much presents! The rest of the day he spends playing with his new presents, the airplane is a definite favorite!

Jander vai para igreja sozinho, eu fico em casa com Efraim, porque ficou muito tarde ontem a noite, esta na hora de juntar todas as presentes! Antes que Efraim acorda eu já guardo metade dos presntes porque ele ganhou demais! O resto do dia ele brinca com os novos brinquedos, o avião é favorito!

Jander gaat alleen naar de gemeente, ik blijf thuis met Efraim, want het was gisteren veel te laat! Tijd om al de cadeautjes eens bij elkaar te zetten! Voordat Efraim wakker werd heb ik de helft al weggeborgen, hij heeft ook zoveel gekregen! De rest van de dag speelt hij met zijn nieuwe speelgoed, het vliegtuig is de grote favoriet!

Jander’s friend Cidiq comes by, and both of them go to my parents house to watch football!

O amigo do Jander, Cidiq passou aqui, e os 2 vão para casa de meus pais para assistir futebol!

Cidiq, een vriend van Jander komt langs, en met z’n 2-en gaan za naar mijn ouders toe om daar voetbal te kijken!

Week4

(Monday, 2aFeira, Maandag)

In the morning we had an interview with the local newspaper. We want to go out in the afternoon but it’s raining! so we went to my parents house and had dinner there.

De manhã a gente teve uma entrevista com o jornal local, a tarde a gente queria sair mas está chuvendo, então a gente foi para casa de meus pais e jantamos lá.

's ochtends hadden we een interview voor de lokale krant, 's middags wilden we graag even weg maar het regende, dus gingen we naar mijn ouders en we hebben daar gegeten.

(Tuesday, 3a Feira, Dinsdag)

I went to the center real quick, than we stayed in home, it’s still raining! At night we eat french fries and dutch frikandellen!

Eu fui para cidade rapidinha, a tarde ficamos em casa, ainda está chuvendo! A noite a gente comeu batata frita com frikandellen (tipico holandes!)

Ik ga eventjes de stad in, verder zijn we rustig thuis, het regent nog steeds! ‘s avonds lekker patajes eten, hmm kroketten en frikandellen!

(Wednesday, 4aFeira, Woensdag)

The weather’s still bad, let’s do something diferent, Efraim and I decide to paint, Efraim makes his shoe for the supermarket where sinterklaas will put a present in his shoe! (again, google sinterklaas to understand this!)

O tempo ainda está ruim, vamos fazer algo diferente, Efraim e eu vamos pintar. Efraim fez um sapato do supermercado para que Sinterklaas pode colocar um presente dentro (faz um google por sinterklaas para entender isto!!)

Het weer is nog steeds niks te waard, we gaan iets anders doen, Efraim en ik gaan verfen! Efraim maakt zijn schoentje voor de Boni supermarkt, zodat de Sint er een leuk kadootje in kan doen!

(Thursday, 5a Feira, Donderdag)

I’m having tea with my friend Jennifer and I end up having lunch there as well, it was a great time, it’s great to be able to spend time with my friends! In the afternoon we go to nunspeet, we had to buy Efraim some shoes for the winter and were able to get a great deal! It was a lovely day and I felt so blessed I didn;t want to go to sleep for the day not to end!

Fui para minha amiga Jennifer para tomar chá juntos, acabei almoçando lá também, foi um tempo maravilhoso, é tão bom para poder gastar tempo com meus amigos! A tarde a gente foi para Nunspeet, Efraim precisave novos sapatos para poder enfrentar o frio, a gente consegui comprar por um bom preço! Foi um dia maravilhoso e me senti tão abençoada que nem queria ir dormir para o dia não acabar!

‘s ochtends thee drinken bij Jennifer, uiteindelijk heb ik er zelfs een broodje meegegetn, het was zo gezellig, het is echt super om zo tijd met mijn vrienden door te kunnen brengen! ‘s middags gingen we even naar nunspeet op zoek naar schoenen voor de winter voor Efraim, we hebben er een paar voor een goed prijsje kunnen vinden! Het was een geweldige dag en ik voelde me zo gezegend dat ik niet eens meer naar bed wilde omdat de dag dan om zou zijn!

We went to Wezep real quick as the winterjacket we ordered for Jander arrived, we didn’t stay there long as Efraim was in a very bad mood….

A gente foi para Wezep para buscar o casaco de Jander que chegou, não ficamos muito tempo porque Efraim não estava muito bem humorado…..

Eventjes naar Wezep omdat de bestelde winterjas van Jander is aangekomen, we blijven er niet lang want Efraim is zó ontzettend jengelig……

(Saturday, Sábado, Zaterdag)

I went to the supermarket by bike, visited my parents, and on the way back I met my friend Marga en her son Munda who were on the way to our house, our friend GertJan was there already playing guitar with Jander, Efraim enjoyed playing with Munda, they ended up having dinner with us. At night we had to minister at a youthgroup.

Eu fui para supermercado de bicicleta, passei na casa de meus pais, na volta encontrei minha amiga Marga com filho dela, eles estavam indo para nossa casa. Lá já estava nosso amigo GertJan, playing guitar with Jander. Efraim curtiu brincar com Munda, eles jantaram com a gente, a noite tivemos que minsitrar em um grupo de jovens.

Eventjes op de fiets naar de supermarkt en bij mijn ouders langs. Op de teruegweg kwam ik Marga en Munda tegen, die waren op weg naar ons huis. Daar was Jander al met GertJan gitaar aan het spelen. Efraim heeft leuk gespeeld met Munda, ze bleven lekker eten. ‘s Avonds moesten we spreken op de jeugdgroep van Luctor.

(Sunday, Domingo, Zondag)

Today we went to another church, it was the dedication of the son of our friends Gert & Jennifer, Efraim had fun playing with the kids in sundayschool and after church we had lunch at their place, efraim was playing with their son Lucas, it was a fun time! The rest of the Sunday was just like a Sunday’s supposed to be: lazy!

Hoje fomos para igreja diferente para apresentação do filho de Gert e Jennifer, Efraim se divertiu com as crianças na escola dominical. Depois do culto almoçamos com eles, Efraim brincou com Lucas, outro filho deles, foi um tempo divertido! O resto do Domingo foi como um Domingo deve ser: preguiçoso!

Vandaag gingen we naar een andere gemeente toe, in Nunspeet, voor de opdracht dienst van de zoon van Gert & Jennifer, Efraim heeft leuk gespeeld met de kinderen in de creche. Na de dienst gingen we met ze mee eten, Efraim speelde daar leuk met Lucas, hun andere zoontje, het was een leuke tijd! De rest van de dag was zoals een zondag hoort te zijn: lui!

Week3

16-11-2009 (Monday, 2aFeira, Maandag)

We stay at home resting from a busy weekens, cleaning the house, Efraim has a severe cold, Jander also starts not feeling well. At night we watch a movie, Efraim can’t sleep…only when he’s sick he likes to be in our lap LOL

Ficamos em casa descandando do final de semana cheia e limpamos a casa, Efraim está bem gripado e Jander também começa. A noite assistimos um filme, Efraim não consegue dormir, só doente mesmo para querer ficar no colo RSRS

We blijven lekker thuis hangen na een druk weekend, het huis aan kant brengen, efraim is flink verkouden, jander begint ook….’s avonds gezellig een filmpje, Efraim kan niet slapen…alleen als hij ziek is wil hij zolang op schoot HIHI

 

17-11-2009 (Tuesday, 3a Feira, Dinsdag)

We stay at home again because Jander and Efraim are not well, so we’re doing lots of building with LEGO. In the afternoon I ‘escape’ to the city, I have to buy medicines for the family, also a great chance to enjoy the noce autumn weather.

Ficamos em casa de novo porque Efraim e Jander não estão bem, construimos coisas grandes com LEGO. A tarde eu consegui ‘fugir’ para cidade, preciso comprar remédios para a família e também consigo curtir um pouco o tempo gostoso de outonu.

Weer thuis blijven wany efraim en jander hebben het flink te pakken, bouwen met duplo dus, ik ontsnap smiddags even naar elburg om een hele batterij hoestdrank, vitaminepillen etc te halen, even genieten van het lekkere herfstweer

As we can’t leave the house while Efraim and Jander are sick I start working on my scrapbooking, making my friend Jennifer’s baby album.

Já que não podemos sair porque Jander e Efraim estão doente, eu coneço fazer o album de foto de bebe para minha amiga Jennifer.

Omdat we nog steeds niet weg kunnen omdat Jander en Efraim ziek zijn, ben ik maar begonnen met he baby foto album dat ik aan het maken ben voor mijn vriendin Jennifer.

I’m going with my dad to the city Kampen where they are going to move to see the house they want to buy there, also we had tea with my aunt and uncle there.

Fui para a cidade Kampen com meu pai, meus pais vão mudar para lá e fui ver a casa que meus pais querem comprar lá. Tamém visitamos minha tia e meu tio.

Met mijn vader ging ik naar Kampen, daar willen mijn ouders heen verhuizen en ik heb het huis gezien dat ze graag willen kopen, ook dronken we thee bij mijn oom en tante daar.

Wedding from my friend Mirjam and Thomas from Senegal. As he speaks portuguese (they met in portugal) the wedding is translated by a brasilian lady!

Casamento de minha amiga Mirjam com Thomas de Senegal. Porque ele fala português (eles se conheceram em portugal) a cerimônia está sendo traduzida por uma moça brasileira!

Trouwerij van een vriendin van mij,Mirjam met Thomas uit Senegal. Omdat hij portugees praat (ze hebben elkaar in portugal leren kennen) wordt de hele dienst vertaald door een braziliaanse!

At night I have to speak at a youthgroup in Nunspeet, Jander stayed home because he wasn’t feeling well.

A noite tive que ministrar em um grupo de jovens em Nunspeet, Jander ficou em casa porque ainda não estava se sentindo bem.

10-11-2009 (Tuesday, 3a Feira, Dinsdag)

Today I went to the city alone to be able to spend more time looking around, I was able to buy some noce things at the goodwill store!

Hoje fui para ciddade sozinha para poder gastar um pouco mais olhando as coisas, consegui comprar umas coisas bem legal em uma loja tipo brechô

Vandaag lekker even alleen naar de stad geweest om wat langer rond te kunnen kijken, heb zelfs wat leuke dingetjes gevonden in de Leger des Heils winkel!

Efraim now sleeps in a special toddler bed! We have to put warm colthes on him as he doesn’s want to be covered with blankets!

Efraim dorme aqui numa cama pequena, ideal! Temos que colocar roupas quentes para dormir porque ele não quer que a gente cobre ele com edredon!

Efraim slaapt in een echt peuterbed! We moeten hem een warme pyjama aandoen want hij wil niet onder de dekens!

Today we went to another village close by: Wezep, to look for a guitar, the picture show the house we are staying in.

Hoje fomos para um vilarejo perto: Wezep, onde Jander olhou violões, a foto embaixo mostra a casa onde moramos agora.

Vandaag even naar Wezep geweest waar Jander naar gitaren heeft gekeken, op de foto zie je het huis waar we nu in zitten.

12-11-2009 (Thursday, 5a Feira, Donderdag)

I went for some shopping to Nunspeet, alone because it was raining, again! But when I came back the sun came out, so I took Efraim for a long walk and we even fed the deer and goats at a little park close by. Jander was away with my dad.

Eu fiz umas compras em Nunspeet, fui sozinha porque estava chuvendo, mas quando voltei tinha até um pouco de sol, entã levei Efraim para uma caminhada até um parquinho onde demos comida aos cabritos e veados. Jander foi passear com meu pai.

Ik ben even naar Nunspeet geweest (Action, Xenos!), alleen, omdat het regende. Maar toen ik terugkwam kwam de zon er een beetje door, dus nam ik Efraim mee voor een lekkere lange wandeling naar het hertenkampjes waar we de herten en geitjes gevoerd hebben. Jander was op pad met mijn vader.

My friend Erika came by and after a cup of tea we went to another goodwill store where I boot some rubber boots for Efraim, you can;t live without in Holland!

Minha amiga Erika veio e depois de nosso chá nos fomos para uma loja de moveis e coisas usados, consegui comprar botas de borracha para Efraim, uma necessidade com este tempo de chuva aqui na holanda!

Mijn vriendin Erika kwam langs en na een kopje thee gingen we naar de kringloopwinkel waar ik voor Efraim onder andere rubberen laarsjes heb gekocht, in Nederland kan je toch niet zonder?

At night our friend Waisca had dinner with us and we had a fun evening, even my dad cam by later with 2 more guys!

A noite nossa amiga Waisca veio jantar com a gente e ficou aqui a noite toda, até meu pai ainda veio aqui com mais 2 rapazes!

‘s Avonds kwam Waisca bij ons eten, het werd een erg gezelluge avond, zelfs mijn vader kwam later nog langs met nog 2 man!

14-11-2009(Saturday, Sábado, Zaterdag)

Sinterklaas arrived in Holland (sorry, long story, google it!), there was some fun going on in the city so I went with Efraim and my friend Marga with her son Munda, after we went to Marga’s house. Than I had to rush to get ready to speak at a group of teenagers! I even took some brazilian sweets for them to taste!

Sinterklaas chegou na Holanda (desculpe, longa historia, pode pesquisar no Google!), tinha alguns eventos legal na cidade então fui lá com Efraim, minha amiga Marga e o filho dela Munda, depois fomos para casa dela. Depois tive que me apressar para ministrar em um grupo de adolescentes, até levei beijnhos de cocô para eles provar um pouco de doce do Brasil!

Sinterklaas is aangekomen! Er was een zwarte pietenfeest in Elburg, dus daar ging ik heeb met Efraim, mijn vriendin Marga en haar zoontje Munda, daarna nog even naar haar huis, en toen haasten om me klaar te maken om te spreken op tienergroep Ad Fontes, ik had zelfs een braziliaanse lekkernij voor ze meegenomen!

15-11-2009 (Sunday, Domingo, Zondag)

We had a really good service at church, than we went to the north of holland to a party of my aunt and uncle. A great time seeing family again, my uncles and aunts, my cousins, and my grandmother. Efraim played (and fought) alot with some children his age, and as soon as we hit the road, he was asleep in the car!

A gente teve um culto muito bom na igreja, depois fomos para a norte de holanda para uma festa de meu tio e tia. Foi um tempo muito bom para rever meus parentes: meus tios, primos, e minha avó. Efraim brincou (e brigou) bastante com crianças da idade dele, e assim que chegamos na estrada para voltar ele já estava dormindo no carro!

We hadden een hele goede dienst in de kerk en daarna gingen we richting het noorden van nederland voor een feest van mijn oom en tante. Het was erg leuk om zo gelijk iedereen van de familie van mijn moeders kant weer te kunnen zien. Efraim heeft veel gespeeld (en wat ryzie gemaakt!) met kinderen van zijn leeftijd enzodra we op de snelweg waren was hij al lang vetrokken!

 Going for some shopping to the citycentre of Elburg, by bike with Efraim and on the way back it started to rain a lot, it couldn’t be more dutch!

Fiz algumas compras no centro de Elburg, de bicicleta, com Efraim, no caminho de volta para casa começou a chuver muito, não podia ser mais holandes!

Eventjes wat inkoopjes doen in het centrum van Elburg, op de fiets natuurlijk met Efraim, op de terugweg begon het hard te regenen, het kon niet hollandser!

My friend Jennifer came to visit, and we went to visit my grandparents, on the way back I drove, for the first time driving in Holland, with my brazilian licence!!!!!

Minha amiga Jennifer nos visitou, e nos fomos para visitar meus avós, no caminho de volta eu dirigi pela primeira vez na holanda com minha carteira brasileira!!!

Jennifer kwam gezellig even langs en ook gingen we bij mijn opa en oma op bezoek, op de terugweg reed ik, voor het eerst rijden in nederland, en nog wel met een braziliaans rijbewijs!!!

06-11 (Friday, 6aFeira, vrijdag) 

Went for grocery shopping with my mom, doing it brazilian style and buying enough for the whole month! That’s what you get when you’re not used to having a supermarket right around the corner!

Fui fazer compra no supermercado com minha mãe, fiz da mesma forma que faço no brasil, as compras para o mês inteiro, é isto que da quando não está acostumado em ter um supermercado bem na sua esquina!

Boodschappen doen met mijn moeder, op de braziliaanse stijl, gelijk genoeg voor de hele maand, dat komt ervan als je niet gewend bent een supermark om de hoek te hebben!!!

We wanted to go to the city, but it’s raining, so we go visit my parents.

A gente queria ir para centro da cidade, mas está chuvendo, então vamos visitar meus pais.

We wilden even naar de stad, maar het regent, dan maar even op bezoek bij  mijn ouders

 

08-11 (Sunday, Domingo, Zondag)

We got to share something about our work in the church, also we had a time of prayer for the DTS outreach, one team will stay in Fortaleza, and the other will go to Natal. It was also a great time to see friends again, after the service we had a nice time of fellowship.

A gente compartilhou sobre nosso trabalho na minha igreja, também tivemos um tempo para orar pela ETED que está indo para prático, uma equipe fica em Fortaleza, outra vai para Natal. Foi também um bom tempo para rever os amigos, depois do culto foi um tempo de confraternização.

Vandaag hebben we wat gedeeld en laten zien over ons werk in onze gemeente. Ook hadden we een tijd van gebed voor de teams van de DTS die op outreach gaan, een team zal in Fortaleza blijven, het andere team gaat naar Natal. Het was ook een goede tijd om vrienden weer te zien, en na de dienst was er volop gelegenheid om bij te kletsen.

A caminho para Holanda

Uau, quase não podemos acreditar, finalmente a caminho para Holanda!!!! Já fez algum tempo que a gente não escreve no nosso blog, mas não queremos aborrecer você com tudo que aconteceu nas ultimas semanas, quero compartilhar só 2 coisas. 

A mãe de Jander

Em nossa ultima postagem compartilhamos sobre a saúde da mãe do Jander que estava nada bem. Graças a algumas ofertas de amigos Jander consegui viajar até Minas Gerais para poder passar uma semana com ela. Logicamente ela ficou muito feliz com isto. Nas ultimas semanas ela foi internada algumas vezes, mas parece que agora ela já está bem melhor!

Efraim va para escola!

Sim, nosso pequeno meninos está crescendo. No meio de arrumar as malas, organizando a casa e outras coisas fomos conhecer a nova escola de Efraim. Como vocês podem imaginar a gente queria muito poder colocar Efraim em uma escola particular, e também a gente queria muito que fosse uma escola cristã. Até o ano passado só tinha em Fortaleza (nos moramos em Aquiraz, 30 kms de Fortaleza), mas no inicio deste ano abriram uma nova sede de Escola Agape (da igrjea batista), esta escola é muito bem conhecido, e fica  a 20 minutos de carro da nossa casa. A escola vai ser muito grande, estão construindo a  maior parte mas já tem aulas no parte já construida. As pessoas eram bem legal e amigável e gostamos demais da estrutura da escola. Depois de uma entrevista com a psicologa e observações da professora decidimos que Efraim vai entrar no Infantil III, na verdade pela idade poderia entrar em Infantil IV, mas porque ele ainda não fala o bastante de português, seria melhor para ele no III, sem problemas, importante é que ele aproveita e gosta de estudar! Porque nos voltamos só no final de janeiro ele vai perder as primeiras 2 semanas de aula, mas tudo bem. Felizmente nós ganhamos um desconto na mensalidade porque somos missionários, mas mesmo assim ainda é bastante dinheiro, também já recebemos a famoso lista de materiais. Por favor nós deixa saber se quiser apoiar o Efraim nos seus estudos!

A caminho para holanda……..

Bem, como já escrevi, estamo a caminho para holanda. Estou escrevendo esta mensagem num hotel em Natal, só 45 minutos de avião de Fortaleza. Saímos de nossa casa na 6a feira passada, tivemos uma parada em Natal, mas o avião tinha problemas e o vôo para São Paulo foi cancelado. Bem a gente ia ter só 2 horas para mudar de avião em SP, entào logo percebemos que o vôo para holanda já estava perdido… depois de muita espera ouvimos que só ia ter outro voo disponivel para nos para holanda no Domingo, 2 dias depois! Então nos ficamos ‘presos’ em Natal por 2 dias, (parte boa: a compainia aérea pagou hotel, taxi e refeições! Claro que a gente ficou um pouco chateado com isto, 2 dias de atraso ninguem merece, principalmente viajando com um menino ativo de 3 anos! Mas decidos que melhor aproveitar e passamos o  Sábado de manhã na praia de Natal (tive que comprar um par de chinelo e uma camiseta porque na mala só tinha roupa de frio!) Tivemos otimas refeições no hotel e descansamos bastante. Esperamos chegar na holanda 2a feira!!!

On the way to Holland

Wow, we can’t believe it, finally we’re on the way to Holland!!!!! It’s been a while since we posted on our blog, but I’m not going to bore you with everything that has happened the past weeks. I just want to share the 2 most important things.

Janders’mother

In our last post we shared about the bad health of Janders mom. Thanks to the offerings of a few friends, Jander was able to visit his mom for a week, ofcourse she was very excited about that! She has been going in and out of the hospital the past few weeks, but finally it’s going much better!!! 

Efraim’s going to school!

Yes, our little boy is growing up. In the midst of packing our suitcases, organizing the house and other things we also went to get to know Efraims new school. The public schools in Brazil are not of a very good quality, and that’s why we really wanted to be able to send Efraim to a private school, also it was important for us to find a christian school. Luckily at the beginning of this year a new  school opened, about 20 minutes by car from our house. It is part of a school in Fortaleza that is very well known. They are still building the biggest part of the school, and it will get pretty big, but for now the classes are still quite small. The people were really nice and friendly, and the school has a great structure. After and interview with the psychologist and having observed Efraim we decided to put Efraim in ‘Infantil III’, a group for 3 year old, even though because of his age officially he could be in group IV, but because Efraim is not fluent enough yet in portuguese for his age, we decided to put him in III, no problem at all, important is for Efraim to enjoy school! Because we’re only coming back january 30th, he will miss 2 weeks of class, but that’s ok. Luckily we get a discount on the school fees of 30% because we are missionaries, but it’s still a lot of money. We also got a list of school supplies we’ll need to buy, including his school uniform! Please let us know if you would like to support Efraim specifically with this!

On the way to Holland…

Anyway, as I said, we’re now on the way to Holland. I’m writing this message ate a table in a hotel in Natal, only 45 minutes by plane from Fortaleza. This was certainly not as we planned….. we left last Friday, excited (and after a lot of stress that you get when leaving yeverything you have behind in an other country for 3 months!) to the airport of Fortaleza. We had a stopover in Natal, but the airplane had problems in the computer and the flight from natal to Sao Paulo got canceled. Well, we only would have 2 hours to change flights in Sao Paulo,  so we discovered soon we would miss our flight to Amsterdam. After a lot of waiting we were told that the next flight available for us to Holland would be on sunday, 2 days later! So we got stuck in Natal for 2 days (luckily the company is paying!) Ofcourse we were very bummed about this, a delay of 2 days is not nothing, especially when you’re travelling with an active 3 year old boy! We deceide to make the best of it and spend Saturdaymorning on the beach, (had to buy flipflops and a shirt for that because our suitcase was prepared for cold dutch weather and not the beach!) We had nice meals in the restaurant of the hotel and got plenty of rest. In w little while the taxi will be here to bring us to the airport again to hopeful arrive in Holland by Monday!
